MIND2ACT – New European Erasmus+ Project Coordinated by the Theological School of the Church of Cyprus to Promote Inclusion in Schools

The Theological School of the Church of Cyprus is delighted to announce the launch of the European project MIND2ACT – Mindfulness and Prosocial Practices for Emotional, Social, and Moral Learning to Increase Inclusion and Prevent Bullying in Schools, a 24-month Erasmus+ Partnership for Cooperation in the field of School Education (KA220-SCH). The project has received excellent reviews, which pay tribute to the project and to the partnership coordinated by the Theological School of the Church of Cyprus. The project began this September and will be completed in August 2028 in collaboration with five distinguished partners: the Università degli Studi Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria (Italy), Enoros Consulting (Cyprus), the Regional Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education of Central Macedonia (Greece), JUTAKI – Hungary Expert for Teachers (Hungary) and the European Parents’ Association (Belgium).

A key motivation for designing the programme is the increasing incidence of school bullying, social exclusion and emotional distress amongst children and adolescents. Bullying remains a significant challenge for education systems across Europe and a threat to the mental health of children and adolescents. As schools play a crucial role in shaping pupils’ emotional wellbeing, their social relationships and their sense of belonging, the project will focus on innovative prevention methods within the school setting.

More specifically, MIND2ACT supports the creation of learning environments where every pupil feels respected, valued and encouraged to participate actively. At the same time, it provides teachers with practical tools for fostering positive interpersonal relationships and creating a culture of inclusion within the classroom.

The project focuses on pupils aged 11 to 13, a particularly critical period of adolescence, during which social interactions, emotional development and peer relationships have a decisive influence on children’s personal development and psychosocial well-being. Recognising that prevention and a meaningful, lasting change require the involvement of the entire school community, MIND2ACT actively involves teachers, headteachers and parents, promoting a collaborative approach that strengthens the support network around each pupil.

During the project’s implementation, an innovative skills-based educational model will be developed, which will integrate mindfulness, prosocial skills and emotional, social and ethical learning into the day-to-day educational process. This will be achieved through research activities, co-creation processes and close collaboration with teachers and other stakeholders. Educational materials and activities will be developed for use across various subjects in the curriculum, with pilot implementations in schools. In addition, a specialised digital platform for teacher training will be made available.

The coordination of MIND2ACT by the Theological School of the Church of Cyprus reflects its ongoing commitment to academic excellence, as well as to serving society and fellow human beings. The cultivation of humanistic values, social and emotional skills, and ethical character is essential for shaping a generation of responsible and active citizens who love their fellow human beings.
