Dr Anastasia Angelides is visiting lecturer at the Theological School of the Church of Cyprus. She teaches English for Theology undergraduate students. She works as a literature teacher in secondary Education. She has participated in numerous international conferences and coordinated student mobility European Programs. She is currently translating and editing Victorian poetry.

Research Interests:

Poetics & Literary Theory: Religion, Cosmopolitanism and Utilitarianism in the poetry and epistolary exchanges of Elizabeth Barrett Browning and the critical essays of Charles Algernon Swinburne. Appropriations of the sonnet and the Victorian dramatic monologue and the treatment of the notion of love with reference to the work of the psychoanalyst Lou-Andreas Salomè and Luce Irigaray.

Translation: Versions of Greek myths in female epics and English translations of Greek dramatists in the Romantic and the Victorian period. Greek and English translations of Victor Hugo’s poetic works.

Ethics: Intersubjectivity in Levinas, Husserl and the relational psychoanalysts.

History & literature: The influence of Modern and Contemporary European Political History (1815- mid-twentieth century) in the work of Central European authors.
